Spray painting for new-build homes
You are getting closer to receiving the keys to your new-build home. Soon, you want to move into a house with smooth walls and ceilings in colours that suit you. ProLatexspuiten handles the spray painting and preparation, tailored to the surfaces and your schedule.
We discuss the condition in which your home will be handed over, what still needs doing and which work is included in your quote. You know what to expect before flooring, furniture and moving boxes arrive.
Get your new-build home ready to move into
An empty new-build home is an ideal opportunity to finish several rooms at once. Airless spraying applies paint evenly and gives smooth plaster a clean, matt finish without roller texture.
The surface needs to be sound: paint will not smooth a rough wall or fill cracks. We first assess the finish provided at handover, then coordinate our work with plastering and other trades to help you prepare for your move.
How will your walls and ceilings be finished at handover?
New plaster: the foundation for a smooth finish
Smooth, sufficiently dry plaster allows us to create an even finish. Our new-plaster package includes machine sanding the walls, checking and repairing damage, caulking internal corners, masking and applying primer before spray painting.

Wallpaper-ready does not mean spray-ready
If your handover specifications describe the walls as ready for wallpapering, do not assume they are ready for a smooth spray-painted finish. Uneven areas and joints may still show after painting.
Have the surface assessed beforehand and agree with your plasterer or contractor what smooth finish is needed. Even if the walls are described as paint-ready, we inspect their actual condition before scheduling the spraying.
A spray-plaster or textured ceiling
If the ceiling is handed over with spray plaster or another textured finish, paint can refresh its colour but the texture remains visible. For a smooth ceiling, the texture must first be covered with a smooth finish.
When you enquire, tell us the ceiling finish and whether you want only the walls or the ceilings painted too. We assess the preparation needed.
Which colours will you choose for your new home?
We use SPS Easytop Extra Mat S1, an extra matt wall paint with wet scrub resistance class 1. Choose colours that suit your flooring, kitchen and furnishings. View samples in the home’s natural daylight where possible, as the same shade can look different from room to room.
Walls and ceilings in the same shade create a calm, unified look. If you want different colours, we include a colour change and an extra working day in the quote. Individual feature walls are painted by hand.

How much does spray painting a new-build home cost?
The price depends on the surface, total area to be sprayed and your colour choices. We calculate the area of the walls and ceilings, not the home’s floor area. A 120 m² home does not automatically mean 120 m² of spray painting.
For new plaster in the 150–350 m² size range, the current rate is €9.50 per m² excluding VAT. See the current wall spray painting costs for all size bands and options. You receive an itemised quote in advance.
- New-plaster package: machine sanding, checking and repairing walls, caulking internal corners, primer, masking, SPS wall paint and clean-up.
- Agreed separately: any additional repairs, feature walls, colour changes and floor protection. Protective floor covering is not included as standard.
- No exact measurements yet? Tell us which rooms you want painted. Where possible, we visit beforehand to inspect and measure.
What should you arrange before spray painting?
Schedule spraying when the plaster is sufficiently dry and the rooms are empty and accessible. There is no single drying time for every new-build home: surfaces, thicknesses and conditions vary. Coordinate the schedule with your plasterer and with us.
Discuss when flooring and fixed furnishings will be installed. If the kitchen or flooring is already in place, tell us beforehand so we can agree on protection. Protective floor covering is an optional extra.
Provide access to water, electricity and toilet facilities. Agree beforehand on removing lights, faceplates and other obstructions; have electrical work carried out by a professional where needed. Sanding and primer are included in our new-plaster package, so you do not need to do them yourself.
Go through our preparation checklist before the work day. If the key handover changes or plastering takes longer, contact us in good time to review the schedule.
From handover date to a finished home
- Enquiry and advice. Tell us where your new-build home is, when you expect the keys and which rooms you want painted. We will contact you to discuss your wishes and the condition of the walls and ceilings.
- Inspection, measuring and quote. We visit beforehand where possible. If you cannot yet get inside, we discuss the information available. You receive an itemised quote by email. Once accepted, we coordinate the work with handover and the drying of the plaster.
- Preparing the home. You provide empty, accessible rooms and sufficiently dry plaster. We agree which fittings will already be installed and who will protect the floor. Tell us as early as possible if the handover date changes.
- Surface preparation and spraying. We review the colours and agreed work, mask the area and carry out the sanding, repairs and caulking. We apply primer to new plaster, then spray the paint for even, full coverage.
- Final inspection together. We remove the masking materials, clear away our waste and review the result with you. We also explain what to consider when furnishing the home and cleaning the paint.

Walls and ceilings in one schedule
In a new-build home, you can combine wall spray painting and ceiling spray painting in one job. This lets us plan preparation, colours and the work for the whole home together.
If walls and ceilings are different colours, we spray the walls on day one and the ceilings on day two. This colour change requires an extra working day. The final schedule also depends on the area and preparation. We confirm the plan for your home in advance.

New-build spray painting FAQs
Can I request a quote before receiving the keys?
Yes. Tell us the expected handover date, the rooms you want painted and the finish specified. You can enquire without exact measurements. We discuss the information needed and visit to inspect and measure where possible.
Can you spray directly onto wallpaper-ready walls?
That depends on the actual surface and the result you expect. Wallpaper-ready walls are not automatically smooth enough for a neat spray-painted finish. Paint does not hide imperfections, so have the walls assessed and smoothed first if needed.
How long does new plaster need to dry?
There is no fixed drying time for every home. Thickness, ventilation and conditions all play a part. The plaster must be sufficiently dry before we start. Agree the drying time and work date with your plasterer and with us.
Can the flooring already be installed when you arrive?
Yes, if it can be properly protected. Tell us the flooring type beforehand and agree who will cover it. We can provide protective floor covering as an optional extra. Existing kitchens and other fixed fittings are also included in the preparation plan.
Does spray painting prevent cracks in a new-build home?
No. Paint does not prevent the underlying surface from moving or cracking later. We assess visible damage and agree the repairs needed before spraying. Any cracks that appear later need to be assessed and repaired separately.
How long will the work take, and when can I move in?
We complete many home projects within one working day. The area, preparation and colour choices determine the schedule. A colour change between walls and ceilings requires an extra day. Also agree when other trades can continue, allowing for the paint to dry and cure.
