What is the wet scrub resistance class of wall paint?

What is the wet scrub resistance class of wall paint?

The wet scrub resistance class indicates how well wall paint withstands wear from cleaning. It describes its resistance to repeated wet scrubbing. This is particularly relevant in rooms where walls are likely to get dirty, such as kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and children’s rooms.

The different wet scrub resistance classes

There are five wet scrub resistance classes, numbered from 1 to 5. The lower the number, the more resistant the paint is to wet scrubbing. Here is an overview:

  1. Wet scrub resistance class 1: This is the highest level of wet scrub resistance, ideal for rooms that are cleaned frequently. The paint is highly resistant to wear and retains its colour and finish even after intensive cleaning.
  2. Wet scrub resistance class 2: Also suitable for regular cleaning, but less resistant to wear than class 1. Suitable for busy rooms where walls are cleaned slightly less often.
  3. Wet scrub resistance class 3: For rooms where walls are cleaned occasionally. This paint can withstand light scrubbing, but is less suitable for intensive cleaning.
  4. Wet scrub resistance classes 4 and 5: These classes offer less resistance to scrubbing and are generally used on walls that are rarely cleaned. They are less suitable for intensive use.

Why choose paint with high wet scrub resistance?

Good wet scrub resistance is particularly useful in rooms where hygiene matters, such as kitchens and bathrooms. The paint stays looking good for longer and is less susceptible to wear from cleaning, making it easier to remove marks and dirt without damaging the painted surface.

Which wet scrub resistance class is right for your room?

When choosing wall paint, consider how the room is used and how often the walls need cleaning. Wet scrub resistance class 2 or 3 may be sufficient for living rooms and bedrooms, while class 1 is the most suitable choice for kitchens and bathrooms.

This information will help you make an informed choice for your next painting project.

Which wet scrub resistance class does ProLatexspuiten use?

To ensure a high-quality result, we always spray wall paint with wet scrub resistance class 1. The main advantages of the paint we use are its quality, versatility and ease of cleaning. One drawback is that it may show slightly more sheen than less scrub-resistant paints. Although it dries to a matt finish, a slight sheen may still be visible in light falling across the surface.
